A Grimm Retelling: Lisa Ilene - Part 3

When their class came together at the end of the semester to report on the progress of each of their businesses, Lisa Ilene and Lorenzo were both stunned to learn how much success Harry said he’d had. He claimed to be hand-making these pillowcases that were described in almost 9,000 reviews to be “magical.” His relaxed demeanor irritated Lisa Ilene.

She gritted her teeth and whispered to Lenz, “He’s not even taking this seriously. How on earth could he be hand making 9,000 pillowcases in one semester. I don’t even think he has a sewing machine. You know what I bet he’s doing? I bet he’s just ordering cheap, crappy pillowcases online and now he’s selling them at a premium. He’s fooling everyone. That rascal-”

Lorenzo stood in front of her with his hand on her shoulders. He took a deep breath to remind her to breathe. Focus. Calm. It was their turn to present to the class.

“Harry may have had the most sales,” Lorenzo said graciously, “but we by far out-performed even our own expectations,” he addressed the class. “We were hoping to triple the money we invested within a year. But we have already quadrupled it!” he announced, proudly.

“We were both able to quit our other jobs,” Lisa Ilene took over. “And now we are excited for the end of the year so we can take a road trip in our food truck for our honeymoon!”

The couple described the hard work that went into creating their business. They explained how their connections helped them in getting better prices for some key necessities, like the cream for their homemade ice cream, not to mention the food truck itself.

“This has proven to be the best and most successful business either of us has ever created,” Lenz said, while holding Lisa Ilene’s hand, “and we fully believe it’s because we have each other this time! We compliment each other's strengths and weaknesses, and are stronger together. One of the best things I learned from this endeavor is that food can be healthy for you and taste good. Really, really good!”

Lisa Ilene grinned. “If you haven’t come out to try our food, you are all invited to our wedding reception next Saturday. We’ll have our food truck there.”

Come back next Monday to finish the story!
