A God of Miracles

My God is a God of miracles.

We have been told by a prophet of God that we can expect miracles. I believe that. And I have relied upon that to quell my anxious feeling about my kids.

This summer has been fun and full of adventures. Especially for my mom. She has gotten to join each of her children on vacations and still has some to look forward to before the month is over. From a trip to California, with Legoland and pier fishing, to a trip to the beautiful part of Arizona for camping and stream fishing, to a show in NYC, and a trip to Hawaii!

Good time all around!

When she got back from her latest trip, however, she was in pain. Her neck was stiff and her back hurt. She felt like there was a vertebrae out of place. I suggested she to go to the doctor or see someone who could help, but she didn't have the energy for it.

So in my morning prayer I asked God for a miracle.

I told Him that she needed a miracle. She deserves a miracle for all she does for others. When I spoke to her later that day I asked how she was feeling.

She said, "Actually, a lot better!"

I told her I was so glad and that I had asked God for a miracle. I was grateful to see it happen in real time, and think it is beneficial to share those little flickers of His hand on our lives.

I often ask to serve those around me. And God tends to answer while I have little distraction, usually while I'm driving.

There was one time a friend from my sophomore year of college came to my mind. It was just a flash of a memory, but a feeling overcame me and I offered a prayer for him. I haven't seen him in close to 20 years, and I haven't thought of him in nearly as long, but God is always aware of each one of us, and He wants us to ask for help. And sometimes if we wont, for reasons like feeling selfish about it or are just too tired, others can ask on our behalf.

Sometimes a simple prayer is all it takes to serve someone. And we are allowed to be bold about what we pray for! We can ask for miracles and we can expect them to happen. And we can look for a recognize them when they do.

I'm so grateful to have this knowledge in my life.

On the way to work today I saw a rainbow. The parts of it I could see during my drive before 6 am changed and brightened.
