I'm a big follower in true crime. My favorite podcast is Crime Junkie, but I also love Bailey Sarian.
One hot topic is the staggering number of black or minority cases that don't get as much coverage. I'm sure there are politics behind it in some areas. Unfortunately it may also have some outlying factors. Possibly the black communities could be understaffed or under resourced. They could be overwhelmed with the volume of crime. Whatever the reason, people are people. Everyone deserves to be safe and taken care of. Everyone deserves extensive efforts to find answers.
This scandal with Carlee Russel is unfortunate. I hadn't noticed or realized that she was a black woman, as oppose to a woman, until I read articles pointing it out.
The articles praised the community for pulling together and getting national press on the missing person. But did it get national press while she was missing? Because I didn't hear about it until she had returned home. If she had actually been in danger she wouldn't have had national support within the two days. The issue is still real. The story broke because she returned home.
The other story I found interesting from the last little while, is the woman who had a meltdown on an American Airlines flight. It's something I've wondered about quite a bit, actually. What in the world did she experience? Was she hallucinating? Was the FA actually a cyborg? Was she on drugs? Was there a sevret agent on the FLT? I'm missing something. So many questions!! And how on earth are you supposed to code that delay?
